The Witch Doctor

Think of the Witch Doctor as to an upgraded Necromancer from Diablo 2, but with skills more traditionally associated with shamanism and voodoo culture. You know: curses, soul "harvesting," summoning of undead servants, shooting poisoned darts and the like.

On the other hand, the Witch Doctor is NOT another version of the Necromancer and that Blizzard may revive the Necromancer in a future expansion for Diablo 3.

The spells that the Witch Doctor uses require mana, which regenerates slowly. The Witch Doctor can summon toads, zombies, spiders, locusts; throw acid or explosives at his enemies, create a Wall of Zombies. This character can also curse or frighten his opponents, deal arcane damage.

As Passive Skills, the Witch Doctor can increase the health of his pets and the damage done by them. He can also increase his attack, defense, precision, and vitality.

The Barbarian

Diablo 3's Barbarian is definitely an upgraded version of the Barbarian from the previous game. Raw physical power with a variety of revamped skills will allow the Barbarian to whirlwind through enemies, cleave through crowds and crush opponents upon landing. The Barbarian is the only returning class, despite the fact that Blizzard planned to have no returning classes.

The spells that the Barbarian uses require fury - an alternative resource of mana for Barbarians - which is generated through both getting attacked and attacking enemies, and also through certain abilities. The fury degenerates over time.

The Barbarian can knock back opponents, attack multiple enemies at once, can jump at or stun nearby enemies, can gain speed and various bonuses for attacking, armor or defense - both for himself and the party.

The Wizard

The cool wiz is an enhanced version of the sorceress from Diablo II. The attack modes remained pretty much the same: shooting lighting, fire and ice at the enemy. There's an awesome new spell added: slowing down time.

The spells that the Wizard casts require arcane power, which regenerates very fast. The Wizard can launch missiles of magic energy, release charged electricity, shock a target with a lighting bolt, can repel projectiles, and can cast a lot of Area of Effect spells.

The Wizard can also summon the forces of nature, such as fire, blizzard, meteors, and ice, to deal damage or for protection. This character can create mirror images of him and also companions to join him in battle.

The Monk

The monk is a melee attacker and it's a combination between Diablo II's Assassin with his martial arts and killing blows and Diablo II's Paladin with his damage resistance and projectiles deflection capability.

The spells that the Monk uses require spirit, which is slowly generated through attacking and does not degenerate like the Barbarian's fury.

The Monk fights through combos which can deal bonus damage and engage multiple enemies at once.

This character can blind enemies, knock them back, create protected areas and recite mantras to reflect melee damage back at enemies or to increase the life regeneration for both you and your party.

The Demon Hunter

The Demon Hunter is a combination between Diablo II's Assassin (throws bombs at enemies) and the Amazon (uses crossbows as their main weapon).

The defensive abilities of the Demon Hunter use discipline, which slowly regenerates, while the fast regenerating hatred is used for attacks. The Demon Hunter is a ranged class with the ability to use shadow magic, traps and gadgets such as grenades.

This character ca learn to shoot faster, fire a swirling Chakram, throw a fan of knives, become invisible and. build a turret - well, more like dropping one to the ground, but it's still an impressive skills.
