They say that, when Deckard Cain returned to the ruins of Tristram Cathedral seeking clues to defeat upcoming evils, a "Harbinger of Death" fell from the heavens. This fire from the sky reawakened long forgotten evils and called the heroes of Asgard... sorry, the Sanctuary, to defend it once again against the rising powers of hell. This is where you, the brave hero, came into the scene within the Diablo 3 release.

Inside the world of Diablo 3 you will fight unholy enemies with all-new character classes, such as the Witch Doctor, and with re-imagined warriors from Diablo 2, like the fearless Barbarian. With the new Havok physics engine, you will be able to use the environment as a weapon against your enemies.

1. On June 2008, at Worldwide Invitational in Paris, Blizzard announced the sequel, but didn't provide any speculation related to Diablo 3 release date.


2. So far, there are five character classes in Diablo III: the fearsome Witch Doctor, the relentless Barbarian, the mysterious Wizard, the Monk and the Demon Hunter.


3. In the previous two releases, each class had a fixed gender, but in Diablo 3 Release, players may choose the gender they would like to play. Great news!


4. Diablo III is best described as a hack and slash type of game then a RPG. Diablo III is a dark fantasy/horror-themed action role-playing game.


5. The story of Diablo begins in the year 964 (when Burning Hells' lesser demons rise up against the Prime Evils (Diablo, Mephisto and Baal) in a rebellion that culminates into their exile to the dark fantasy world of Sanctuary), and ends in 1265, when angel Tyrael destroys the Worldstone housed within Mount Arreat (Diablo 2).


6. With the release of Diablo 3, players will have the opportunity to explore familiar settings, such as the town of Tristram.


7. However, the only confirmed familiar NPC is Deckard Cain, who has appeared in both previous releases. "Stay a while and listen..."


8. Every creature will have around 36 unique death animations in the upcoming Diablo 3 Release. Enemies will use the 3D environment as well, crawling on walls for eg.


9. Unlike previous releases, gold can be picked up by your character merely by touching it, rather than having to manually pick it up, which is really good news.


10. There will be class-specific quests to go along with the main storyline, which was anyway expected from the highly anticipated Diablo 3 release.

Diablo 3 Skills & Stats
Got skills? Hell yeah, we do! Diablo III comes with a whole new set of skills, stats, attributes and rune(stones). Runestones? Well, yeah. What, have you lived under a rock or something?! Runestones are a form of socket gems, the difference being that instead of going in items, they go in different skills and are forever bonded to the skill they are placed in. Diablo 3 Important Changes
If you're anything like me, you're not happy with the changes Blizzard made to Diablo 3. They should really "stay awhile and listen" to the myriad of demon hunters out there. After all, you only beat Diablo thrice!

Diablo 3 Defense & Combat Changes
While in Diablo 2 defense/armor was calculated by a chance to hit rating, in Diablo 3 all attacks will hit, but will also have a flat 5% chance to miss (with the exception of ranged spells, AoE, and abilities with large resource investments).

While in Diablo 2 a high defense would make your enemies miss you more often, in Diablo III, the defense system is based not on hit avoidance, but on damage reduction. It works much like resistances worked in the previous Diablo... Should you have a high defense or heavy armor doesn't mean you won't be hit; it means you will take less damage when you are hit. Got it?

Diablo 3 Gameplay
Those who attended BlizzCon last year were invited to play through Diablo 3's new environments, quests, monsters, bosses, the new Arena PvP mode, and of course, test the newest character class, Demon Hunter. If you weren't there to experience it, we have the next best thing for you: 19 minutes of Diablo III gameplay.

Health Globes?
There's a lot of controversy on Diablo III forums lately over developer's decision to focus on health globes rather than health potions. The designers removed the easy ways of healing yourself; no more belts full of potions that can be used instantly and repeatedly. Health globes are items that drop off of enemies and stick around for about a minute. When you pick one up, you and your teammates get healed.

Blizzard decided to minimize the use of potions because they wanted to add more depth to combats. When you're in trouble in Diablo III, you don't hit the potion button; you use your skills! If you're a Barbarian, stun your enemies; if you're a Monk, blind them. Although there are still health potions to be found in the game, they have a cooldown timer. We do appreciate the option of not having to walk into the next fight with nothing.

Games like Diablo
Since it seems unlikely that Blizzard is going to release Diablo 3 anytime soon, Titan Quest is the next-best thing to play while you wait patiently. It's not like this game has taking action RPGs to a whole new level or anything, but you'll probably have fun with it if you've enjoyed playing Diablo 2 in the past. Then there's Path to Exile, an online RPG which will soon become available for download and play for free. Interested in games like Diablo?

WoW: Cataclysm Record Sales and Diablo III
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, launched on Dec. 7th, sold over 3.3 million copies in the first 24 hours from its release. This is a record for any PC title and ads to Blizzard's popularity among gamers world-wide. StarCraft 2 broke the record for the first 24-hour sales for a strategy game with more than 1.5 million copies sold... Therefore, we have every reason to think that Diablo 3 release will follow WoW and StarCraft 2 in that regard.

When Does Diablo 3 Come Out?
"Inside the world of Diablo 3 you will fight unholy enemies with all-new character classes, such as the Witch Doctor and the Demon Hunter, and with re-imagined..." While this is interesting and somewhat informative, you might not care about it that much, since has been years now since Blizzard secretly started working on Diablo 3. What you care about is when does Diablo 3 come out?!

Diablo 3 Online Exclusively?
There's a rumor going around that we won't be able to play our copy of Diablo 3 - the game we paid a lot of money for - offline. Even more, Blizzard strongly discourage us to play their game OFFLINE, because of Battle.Net achievements. (!?!) I can understand StarCraft 2 need for Blizzard's gaming portal to match players in multiplayer and because of piracy issues, but I am a huge fan of character development and story, don't care much about PvP (Player versus Player) and would personally prefer that my character's data be saved on my computer, and not subject to deletion or alteration by Battle.Net patches.

That being said, if Blizzard will continue to discourage me to play offline, I will personally not buy the Diablo 3 release and will play a cracked version of the game instead.

Demon Hunter, the Fifth Class Revealed
The fifth class of Diablo 3 release was recently presented at BlizzCon 2010. Demon Hunters have one purpose: the destruction of the creatures spawned from the Burning Hells. Coming from the Borderlands, they wander the world to hunt down horrible demons. The female Demon Hunter in Diablo 3 release fled from her village as a child during a demonic invasion. No Passive Skills in Diablo 3
At the moment there are no passive skills in the characters' Skill Trees. There are 25-30 active skills in each Skill Tree and you can only have points in 7 different skills at once. Each class has these active skills in one big menu, without any of the sub-trees we were familiar with in Diablo 2.

And they use tiers, but without many dependencies, pretty much like in Titan Quest. Long story short, actives won't depend on each other, and in a way Diablo 3 will be like that. Probably Blizzard is trying to engage the players in the upcoming Diablo 3 Release as much as possible, hence the elimination of passive skills.

No Ethereal Items & System Requirements
From the latest Diablo 3 official tweets we find out that there would be no ethereal items in Diablo 3. Good news, bad news? You decide. However, ethereal items were added to Diablo 2 in the expansion so they could appear in a Diablo 3 expansion as well.

StarCraft 2 Before Diablo 3
Blizzard announced through an official press release that its highly anticipated real-time strategy game, StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty^™, will arrive in stores on July 27, this year.

We've been looking forward to revisiting the StarCraft universe for many years, and we're excited that the time for that is almost here," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. Finally some good StarCraft 2 news! Go ahead, do your celebration dance now. Or not... if you are a harcored Diablo fan.

Diablo III Is Coming!
Rather than simply telling us information about their upcoming Diablo III, like normal developers would do, Blizzard is going the teaser image route. They've posted a weird picture that suggests some sort of big Diablo 3 release announcement is coming.

"It's coming," reads the cryptic message attached to the image to the right. It's just a few tan lines on a brown background. Seems to be a small part of a much larger image. Guess we'll have to wait a few days to allow Blizzard to cast some light on this.

Blizzard Bans Diablo 2 Cheaters
Blizzard dropped the hammer and dispensed some indiscriminate justice tonight, banning over 300,000 online accounts from Warcraft III and Diablo II. The accounts "were found to be violating the Battle.net Terms of Use", a statement on the company's forums reads. "The CD key associated with the banned account will be suspended for 30 days, while repeat offenders will see their keys banned permanently. All decisions are final."

Paying to Restore Diablo III Hardcore Characters
In recent posts on the Diablo III forums, community manager Bashiok revealed new information about the upcoming hack-and-slash game, such as paying to bring back a fallen hardcore character WILL NOT be implemented into the Diablo 3 Release, although personally we would very much liked that.

Also, in Diablo III, players will no longer gain a number of stats to distribute every level; this will be done automatically (auto-stats). And lastly, shrine buffs apply to the entire party as long as they're in range. More news on Diablo 3 Release soon...

Diablo 3 Release BEFORE StarCraft 2?
BattleForums spread the rumor that that development of StarCraft 2 will be postponed until Blizzard's Diablo III is ready for the market.

An anonymous source from inside Blizzard released unintentionally this information through a casual conversation with one of BattleForums staff members.

Happy Easter!
On behalf of the entire Diablo 3 Sanctuary, we wish you a Happy Easter and give you one of the oldest Diablo Easter Eggs, dating back to the nineties. Yes, the good ol' times!

As you can see, the Diablo I release has hidden messages! "BUY WAR II" (Warcraft II?) and "NATALIE PORTMAN ROCKS" can be seen clearly if you take a take a screenshot of the launcher (PrintScreen) then paste it in your image editor. Play with the contrast a little bit and it will reveal itself to you. As a side note, we also think that Natalie Portman rocks, and that this game is as addictive as free roulette on a winning streak. Natalie Portman is possibly more addictive, although making that happen may be more of a gamble.
